Mastering the French Press: Tips for a Bold and Flavorful Cup

3 comments Aug 26, 2024

The French press is that no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point brewing method that just gets the job done. And when you’re using BLK & Bold’s Smoove Operator dark roast blend, you’re in for a coffee experience that’s as smooth as it sounds.

Here’s how to master the French press like a pro.

1. Start with the Best Beans: Quality is everything. Go for our Smoove Operator—it’s got those deep, chocolatey notes that hit just right with the French press.

2. Grind It Right: Coarse is key. Think breadcrumbs, not powder. Too fine, and your coffee gets bitter; too coarse, and it’s weak.

3. Water Matters: Filtered water at around 200°F is your best bet. Boiling water will burn your coffee, and nobody wants that.

4. Measure It Out: Go with a 1:15 ratio—one part coffee, fifteen parts water. So, if you’re using 30 grams of Smoove Operator, you need 450 grams of water. Adjust to taste, but that’s the sweet spot.

5. Brew Time: Pour your hot water over the grounds, give it a gentle stir, and let it steep for 4 minutes. Set your timer and relax—good things take time.

6. Press It Slow: After 4 minutes, press the plunger down slowly. If it’s tough, your grind might be too fine. Too easy? You need a finer grind next time.

7. Pour and Enjoy: Serve it up right away to avoid over-extraction.

What you’re left with is a bold, rich cup that’s full of flavor. The French press with Smoove Operator is all about keeping it simple but strong. Perfect for when you need a coffee that’s as bold as your hustle.
