A New Brew Is Here! BLK & Bold Launches Cold Brew, Ready-to-Drink Coffee

    DES MOINES, Iowa – It may be cold to the taste and touch, but cold brew coffee is one of the hottest trends in coffee right now, with the market expected to increase by more than $125 million this year alone, according to a 2022 report from Statista.

    That makes it the perfect time for BLK & Bold Specialty Coffee, the first nationally distributed, black-owned coffee company, to launch its line of cold brews. Cold brews are created by steeping coffee grounds in cold water 24 hours, which allows it to develop a smooth, bold taste.

     The BLK & Bold Cold Brew Coffee comes ready to drink in sweet, unsweet and caramel (nitro) varieties. It is a dark roast based on the company’s Smoove Operator blend and offers flavor notes of caramel with a bold, creamy taste. It will be available in a 4-pack of cans in the refrigerated section at Target stores nationwide in Summer 2022.

    “We wanted to give coffee lovers a new way to experience BLK & Bold, just in time for summer,” said Rod Johnson, co-founder of BLK & Bold. “Not everyone wants to drink hot coffee when it’s 90 degrees out, but not everyone wants to take the 24 hours it takes to make a true cold brew or water down their coffee with ice either. Our new offering provides the taste and convenience our customers want.”

    Speaking of wants, increased interest in a more natural caffeine boost also led to the product’s development. BLK & Bold Cold Brew provides an energy alternative to other beverages, with up to 160mg of caffeine per an 8-ounce serving (7.5 ounces for the nitro version), compared to half that amount for other energy type of drinks. In addition, BLK & Bold Cold Brew has 0 grams of sugar and 12-17 calories per serving, depending on the variety.

     “The BLK & Bold Cold Brew provides a healthier way to get that boost of energy without a sugary crash,” Johnson said. “Plus, coffee in and of itself already provides health benefits, including decreased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and premature death.”

    In fact, cold brew may be considered an even healthier option than regular coffee, according to the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. That’s because it’s smoother and less acidic than regular coffee. It typically produces a stronger and more naturally sweet flavor, possibly reducing the need to enhance the taste with milk, cream, sugar or other high-calorie additions.

    Of course, coffee lovers can enjoy the beverage however they prefer, whether that’s with tasty additions or straight from the can. While the BLK & Bold Cold Brew is available cold, it is shelf stable and can be left and room temperature and re-refrigerated if needed.

      I was able to try the Cold Brew, the unsweetened and sweetened. I am obsessed with the sweetened Cold Brew and I’m desperately trying to find it in the 4-packs. I love it! It’s dark and rich. Yummy
