Through our For Our Youth initiative, BLK & Bold is proud to support a growing network of nonprofit organizations creating opportunities for young people across the country. From sustainable food systems and digital access to education, housing, wellness, and advocacy, our Community Partners are tackling some of the challenges that matter most.

This National Nonprofit Day, we’re highlighting some of organizations behind that work and the young people at the center of it. Here’s a look at some of the communities, programs, and people helping build a more empowered future.

Cultivating Health & Wellness

Helping young people thrive starts with creating spaces where they can feel supported, build confidence, and prioritize their wellbeing. Through mentorship and wellness programming, Kid Power Inc. is inspiring youth leadership and lifelong skills. That same focus on healthy development comes to life through Acta Non Verba and its annual Camp ANV, which gives youth eight weeks of immersive outdoor experiences designed to encourage healthy living and leadership.

Building a More Sustainable Food Future

Creating healthier communities also means rethinking how we grow, access, and connect with food. The Food Project brings youth and adults from diverse backgrounds together to cultivate a more sustainable food system, combining leadership development and education with hands-on urban farming experiences.

That connection between food, education, and opportunity continues through Urban Growers Collective in Chicago. Through paid apprenticeships, young people gain firsthand experience with food systems and food justice while working on community farms and building skills while helping strengthen their communities.

Expanding Access to Technology

Opportunity also depends on having access to the tools needed to learn and participate in an increasingly digital world. Compudopt is working to close that gap by connecting families with computers and digital education. With support from BLK & Bold, their work continues to put technology into homes, expand digital literacy, and give young people greater access to the resources they need to thrive.

Empowering Education & Mentorship

Access to resources can open doors, but mentorship and education help young people envision what’s possible on the other side. By Degrees Foundation is helping make higher education more attainable by opening new children’s savings accounts, while also giving students greater exposure to higher education opportunities.

For young adults in Los Angeles, LA Conservation Corps takes that connection between education and opportunity into the community, combining mentorship and service while helping participants build valuable skills through revitalization and restoration efforts.

Creating Pathways to Stability

For some young people, having the opportunity to thrive begins with having a safe and stable place to call home. YouthCare is working to end youth homelessness by providing housing, education, employment pathways, and wraparound services that help young people move toward stability and reach their full potential.

That focus on creating pathways forward is also central to Cafe Momentum, where justice-involved youth receive life skills, education, and employment opportunities designed to equip them for long-term success. Together, these efforts demonstrate what’s possible when young people are met with resources, support, and meaningful opportunities.
