Making it through three years of owning and operating a business is a feat in and of itself. There are daily challenges, standards to meet, and that takes a lot of hard work. Factor in that our third year included a global pandemic that ground the world to a halt, and the regular work of running a business becomes that much more difficult. 

We’re not any different than most businesses that had to figure it out during the pandemic. All of us- including our employees, vendors, and more- have families. Our priority in that time (along with our normal priorities) was making sure that everyone could do their job and feel supported. Our third birthday gives us a unique opportunity to look back at what we’ve accomplished and celebrate, which is an even bigger deal now given what the last year has looked like around the world.

In 2019, BLK & Bold launched as an e-commerce store at blkandbold.com. That same year, we were able to move out of the CEO and co-founder, Pernell Cezar’s, garage. We also opened our Amazon store, which allowed us another way to reach our customers.

In 2020, we were awarded national retail distribution, which was huge. That accomplishment gave us the opportunity to meet more of our customers where they are- in the grocery stores that you visit regularly. It’s always been important to us to make sure that it’s easy to find BLK & Bold, make the impact that comes with the 5% for our Youth program, and enjoy specialty coffee without jumping through hoops. We also moved into our very own 10,000 sq ft commercial facility to accommodate the growth we experienced.

2020 was hard for all of us, and we have so much to be thankful for. The support that all of you showed us ushered BLK & Bold into a wild 2021. So far, we’ve announced a beverage licensing partnership with the NBA, and doubled the commercial production space to 20,000 sq ft. So, sincerely, thank you for rocking with us. We’re excited to see what the future holds.
